Many of you know that I lost an aunt to cancer June of 2002. Bernadette (Bern) was only 64. She was my father's youngest sister. The last time we went to see her she remarked on all of my gray hair, and the loss of all of her hair. It made me think of, in the immortal words of Tom T. Hall, "a good thing that still could be done". I decided to grow my hair long enough to donate to one of the organizations that makes wigs for cancer patients. I found Wigs For Kids. When I started the project, I thought that it might take a few months, it took 14. It was a incredible experience. Anybody who says that how you look doesn't change how people treat you is at best naive. I also gained a whole new respect for ladies with long hair. (I am talking about there own, not the extensions!)

Anyway, here is a photo of what my grand daughter, Cody described as me having "high hair", before the start of the project. And Cadan is a real friend. He did not mind how long my hair was. This is what I looked like just before the haircut, and this is what I look like now. And here is the hair, laying on the barbers chair, waiting to get made in to a pony tail for shipment. And the barber, who's name I missed.

And you may have heard that I undertook another hair project this year. I participated in a Saint Baldricks Event. I raised more than $4000.00 for kids with cancer by shaving my head. The page is here.
